Desired Expertise and Skills:

The following experience matters to us for this position (most or all of these is a plus):

  • Must possess a valid Professional Engineer (PE) license in the state of California (required).
  • You are able to act as lead consultant while demonstrating excellent judgement and assess the various needs of multiple clients and projects.
  • You have at least 5 years of work experience with an engineering firm, with a broadband service provider, or with a broadband consulting firm.
  • You have at least 5 years of work experience with engineering aspects of broadband network design and deployment in addition to project management and consulting experience.
  • You possess in-depth knowledge of network infrastructure, such as fiber optics, and associated construction and design standards.
  • Demonstrates a knowledge of the capabilities and costs of fiber-optic communication.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and data.
  • You have at least 3 years of work experience in a consulting or analytical role.
  • Familiarity with broadband funding programs and public-sector projects.

This position will include the following tasks:

  • Acting as lead consultant, assessing the various needs of multiple clients and projects
  • Exhibiting a thorough understanding of the broadband field and broadband engineering consulting
  • Taking a creative approach to developing and improving design practices and design tools
  • Demonstrating knowledge of the capabilities and costs of fiber-optic communication
  • System-level designing and planning of physical plant and network electronics
  • Preparing detailed technical reports, summaries, and delivering presentations
  • Collaborating directly with clients, partners, and internal team members to ensure alignment of project goals and expectations
  • Managing multiple active projects simultaneously, prioritizing tasks, and managing deadlines
  • Performing feasibility analyses
  • Developing bid specifications and evaluating bids
  • Providing technical mentoring and peer review support to junior engineers and colleagues to promote shared learning and quality assurance
  • Documenting and improving internal processes, review templates, and data systems to enhance efficiency and consistency across projects
  • Coordinating with ISPs, state agencies, and engineering firms to reconcile data, resolve design issues, and ensure project alignment

Education

A Bachelor’s and/or a Master’s degree in electrical engineering, computer science or related field (Preferred)

Required Qualifications

Must possess a valid Professional Engineer (PE) license in the state of California.
