What You'll Do
- Lead and review electrical design and engineering for solar PV systems across residential, commercial, and utility-scale projects
- Prepare and stamp technical deliverables including one-line diagrams, electrical plan sets, and engineering calculations
- Perform system sizing, voltage drop, fault current, and equipment rating calculations for solar and BESS installations
- Support interconnection studies and utility submission packages for solar PV and battery storage projects
- Ensure compliance with NEC, IEEE, NESC, and applicable state/utility requirements
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineers and designers throughout the project lifecycle
- Collaborate with project managers and clients to resolve technical issues, RFIs, and design challenges in a remote environment
- Support QA/QC reviews of permit plan sets and engineering deliverables
Qualifications (Required)
- Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in at least one U.S. state
- 5+ years of experience in electrical engineering within the solar industry (residential, commercial, and/or utility-scale)
- Strong working knowledge of NEC and applicable electrical codes/standards
- Hands-on experience with solar PV system design, calculations, and permit documentation
- Excellent technical writing, documentation, and communication skills
- Ability to work independently in a fully remote, deadline-driven environment
Preferred Experience
- PE license in California, Illinois, Pennsylvania, and/or Washington is a major plus
- Experience with battery energy storage systems (BESS) and DER interconnection
- Familiarity with utility interconnection processes and requirements
- Experience with QA/QC reviews, permit plan sets, and resolving RFIs
- Exposure to power system studies (short circuit, coordination, load flow) is a plus but not required
