Job Description
Decatur Professional Development is seeking experienced engineers to present live webinars on engineering ethics using PowerPoint slide presentations that we provide. This is a part-time, remote, independent contractor opportunity that can be performed from your home or office. This work is intended to provide supplemental income, not a substitute for full-time employment.
ENGINEERING ETHICS WEBINAR INSTRUCTOR
We are looking for knowledgeable, experienced engineers who are comfortable presenting engineering ethics and professional responsibility to other engineering professionals.
You do not need to develop the course or create the PowerPoint presentation. We provide the prepared PowerPoint slides. Your primary responsibility is to become familiar with the material and deliver an engaging, professional live webinar.
Webinars are interactive, so attendees may ask questions and participate in discussion throughout the presentation.
- Pay: $100/hour of live instruction
- Course Material Provided: We provide the pre-prepared PowerPoint presentation and supporting course material
- Primary Topic: Engineering ethics and professional responsibility
- Your Role: Review and become familiar with the provided material, present the webinar, and engage with attendees
- Remote: Present webinars from your home or office
- Flexible Scheduling: Webinars are scheduled around instructor availability
- Part-Time: Scheduling varies from month to month; approximately 4 to 20 hours per month may be available
QUALIFICATIONS
Applicants should:
- Have at least a bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field from an accredited university
- Have a minimum of 7 years of post-graduation experience practicing as an engineer
- Be comfortable speaking to groups and presenting technical/professional material in a live online environment
- Be able to clearly explain and discuss ethical issues encountered in engineering practice
- Be comfortable responding to questions and facilitating professional discussion
Registered Professional Engineers (PEs) are strongly preferred.
Retired engineers who meet the qualifications are encouraged to apply.
CONTRACT WORK
This is 1099 independent contractor work. There are no employment benefits associated with this position.
ALSO SEEKING WEBINAR INSTRUCTORS FOR OTHER ENGINEERING TOPICS
Already have a PowerPoint presentation on an engineering topic that you would like to present?
We are also interested in hearing from experienced engineers who have their own pre-prepared PowerPoint slide material and would like to present live webinars in their areas of expertise.
Potential topics include civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, geotechnical, fire protection, renewable energy, building systems, stormwater, concrete, piping and valve design, forensic engineering, sustainable design, energy conservation, and other subjects relevant to practicing engineers.
If you have strong professional experience in an engineering specialty and an existing presentation that could be adapted for a continuing-education webinar, we encourage you to apply and tell us about your proposed topic.
Apply to share your engineering experience with fellow professionals—whether presenting our prepared engineering ethics material or bringing your own presentation on another engineering topic.
