Job Description
The ideal candidate will provide technical support and assistance to end-users, ensuring smooth operation of computer systems, networks, and the specialized design/engineering software our clients rely on. This role is essential in maintaining our IT infrastructure - including our RMM, identity, and device management tools - and delivering exceptional customer service.
Why Techs Like This Role
- Our clients are architecture and design firms across the East Coast - sharp, well-educated, and by a wide margin genuinely pleasant to work with.
- They rarely hit us with low-level tickets, so more of your day goes toward real problem-solving instead of firefighting the basics.
- When something recurring comes up, we systemize it - building a real fix instead of patching the same issue over and over.
- Most of what we support is modern, well-maintained tech - only a small slice of the environment is old enough to need retiring.
- You'll help build our AI-powered helpdesk assistant, trained on years of historical ticket history plus the knowledge the team feeds it, supporting clients who are already sharp researchers in their own right.
- After-hours work is rare - if a client asks for something past 6pm, it's a discretionary call, not an obligation. Weekends are uncommon too, and when one does come up, you'll get a comp day to use at your discretion.
- The work stays interesting - new tools, real variety, and a team that's genuinely good to be around.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical support for hardware and software issues, including troubleshooting and resolving problems related to operating systems, applications, and network connectivity.
- Manage user accounts and identities through Active Directory and Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD), ensuring proper access controls are in place.
- Deploy, monitor, and maintain endpoints using NinjaRMM and ImmyBot for remote monitoring, patch management, and automated software deployment.
- Administer mobile device management (MDM) for Android and iOS devices (iPhones and iPads), with potential future expansion to laptop management.
- Manage software license tracking, assignment, and renewals across the organization's application stack (e.g., Autodesk, Bluebeam, Rhino, Microsoft 365).
- Support design and engineering software including Autodesk products (AutoCAD, Revit), Rhino, and Bluebeam, including rendering workflows and related workstation performance.
- Support AI tools used for virtual assistance workflows, including MCP (Model Context Protocol) server setup and maintenance, and help train/feed our internal AI helpdesk assistant with historical ticket data and curated knowledge.
- Support various operating systems including Windows, macOS, Linux, and mobile platforms.
- Collaborate with other IT staff on projects related to IT infrastructure upgrades or enhancements.
- Provide remote and onsite technical support for end users (Windows, macOS, Office 365, networking, printing, etc.)
- Assist with onboarding/offboarding of users, devices, and accounts
- Perform routine system monitoring, updates, and maintenance
- Support networking equipment, Wi-Fi, and cloud-based platforms (e.g., Microsoft 365, Egnyte, VPNs)
- Escalate advanced issues when needed and collaborate with senior technicians
- Maintain accurate documentation of support requests, resolutions, and client environments
Skills
- Proficient in technical support and desktop support with a strong understanding of computer hardware and software troubleshooting.
- Knowledgeable in computer networking concepts such as TCP/IP, DNS, LAN administration, and network security protocols.
- Familiarity with IT infrastructure components including firewalls, VPNs, Meraki devices, and Microsoft Windows Server.
- Experience with RMM and automated endpoint management tools (e.g., NinjaRMM, ImmyBot, or similar platforms).
- Experience with Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD) and hybrid identity management alongside Active Directory.
- Experience with MDM platforms for managing Android and iOS devices.
- Understanding of software license management, tracking, and renewal processes.
- Experience with help desk tools like ServiceNow or Jira for tracking issues effectively.
- Strong communication skills to interact with users at all levels while providing excellent customer service.
- Analytical skills to diagnose issues quickly and efficiently while maintaining a focus on user satisfaction.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment. Join us in this exciting opportunity to grow your career in IT while contributing to our mission of providing top-notch technical support!
Bonus Skills (Nice to Have)
- Hands-on experience using AEC (Architecture, Engineering, Construction) design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, Rhino, or Bluebeam, including rendering workflows
- Familiarity with AI tools for virtual assistance and MCP (Model Context Protocol) server configuration
- Exposure to security tools and practices (MFA, endpoint protection, backups)
- Previous MSP or client-facing IT services experience
