Job Description

Job summary The Legal Secretary will provide administrative and secretarial support to the firm's lawyers and assist in ensuring the efficient operation of the practice. Min Qualification: Degree Experience Level: Entry level Experience Length: 2 years Language Requirement: English Working Hours: Full Time - 8 to 5 Applicant Location: Lagos, Nigeria.

Responsibilities:

 

  • Preparing, formatting, proofreading, and filing legal documents, correspondence, contracts, pleadings, and reports.
  • Managing lawyers' calendars, appointments, court dates, meetings, and deadlines.
  • Maintaining and organizing physical and electronic client files and legal records.
  • Liaising with clients, courts, regulatory authorities, government agencies, and other stakeholders on behalf of the firm.
  • Receiving, screening, and directing telephone calls, emails, and correspondence.
  • Assisting with legal research and the compilation of documents for transactions, litigation, and regulatory matters.
  • Filing court processes and ensuring compliance with filing requirements and deadlines.
  • Preparing meeting agendas, taking minutes, and following up on action items.
  • Managing incoming and outgoing correspondence and ensuring proper document tracking.
  • Handling confidential and sensitive information with the highest level of professionalism and discretion.
  • Assisting with client onboarding, conflict checks, and Know-Your-Client (KYC) documentation where applicable.
  • Monitoring office supplies and administrative requirements for the legal team.
  • Supporting billing, invoicing, and client account administration as required.
  • Maintaining the firm's document management and record-keeping systems.
  • Performing other administrative and secretarial duties as may be assigned by the firm's partners and lawyers.

 


 

Requirements:

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Secretarial Administration, Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2–3 years' experience in a law firm or professional services environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Canva, and document management systems.
